MKON Logistics: Trucking Operations Support & Safety Solutions

I recently had the pleasure of working with MKON Logistics to create a new digital tool for their operations. 

MKON Logistics is a company based in Canada that helps trucking businesses manage their HR paperwork. This is a tall order—if you've ever been around the trucking industry, you'll know that there is a lot of paperwork involved. 

MKON saw this issue and wanted to create a solution to help. They started by trying to create a digital tool on their own but ran into some issues. That’s when they reached out to me.

How I Transformed MKON’s Paper-Based HR into a Digital Powerhouse in Just 30 Days

When I first sat down with the MKON team, they showed me what they had built using a popular tool called Bubble. It was a good start, but there were serious gaps. 

The tool was slow, and some features they wanted just weren’t there. The MKON team was starting to lose hope of their dreams to create this new, industry-changing feature. 

They had a clear vision: a platform where trucking companies could easily handle all their HR paperwork without getting overwhelmed. 

But the current system wasn’t cutting it, and there was a clear block in the road for MKON’s vision. 

Using Glide as a Solution and What I Did To Help MKON

After understanding their needs, I suggested to MKON that we switch gears and use Glide to continue the development of their app. 

Glide is a tool I've worked with before, and I knew it could deliver what MKON wanted. Glide is extremely customizable and was up to the task of developing the solution that MKON was eager to bring to their industry. 

Together, we mapped out the main areas to focus on:

Unique Profiles 

Every trucking company is different, with different drivers, vehicles, and routes. We needed a system where MKON could easily add and manage all this information and keep it organized. 

At the same time, it was essential for clients to have a space where they could log in and update their details whenever they needed.

Document Storage

In the trucking world, there are many documents to keep track of between licenses, certifications, vehicle registrations, and more. 

We set up a section where MKON could list out all the necessary documents for each client. 

Clients, in turn, could log in, see what they needed to submit, and upload them directly. This interface was the highlight of MKON’s application and also needed to have additional considerations such as privacy and security.

Alerts

One of the biggest challenges in this industry is keeping track of expiring documents. The trucking industry has a great deal of high-level licenses and documents. 

Not knowing when these documents expire or forgetting about them can singlehandedly ruin a business. MKON not only wanted to help trucking businesses with this problem, but they also didn’t want to be liable if something went wrong. 

We added a feature where the system would automatically send out reminders about any upcoming expirations. This way, no one would be caught off guard.

The Final Product

Once everything was set up, the difference in the new MKON application was clear. The new system was faster, more user-friendly, and checked all of MKON’s boxes. To put it simply, we’d accomplished the dream.

Every project of mine is a learning experience. Companies are unique, and their interesting ideas are even more so. 

With MKON, the big lesson was the importance of truly understanding a client’s world. Trucking in Canada has its own set of challenges, and the solutions need to be tailored to that. When helping MKON create their app, it wasn’t just about using the right tools but about using them in the right way.

Working with MKON was a journey. We started with a basic idea and, step by step, turned it into a robust digital platform that is now helping trucking companies across Canada. The positive feedback from the MKON team was the icing on the cake. It's always great to see hard work pay off.
