How ‘Free to Feed’ Built a Business App in 7 Days with Glide

Trill from FreeToFeed came to me at a crossroads.

She was leading the field in helping breastfeeding mothers navigate the complexities of breastfeeding children with allergies. Her business was gaining popularity, and she had a bright idea for an app to help fuel that growth.

But when Trill pitched her idea to investors, they were intrigued, but they wanted to see the app—a real, working app. Trill didn’t have the capital or the time to make it happen.

This is a common challenge for startups. You need the product to secure funding, but you need funding to build the product.

How ‘FreeToFeed’ Got Their Business App in 1 Week with Glide

Enter Glide and, more importantly, my ‘build it in 1-week’ strategy. If you’re unfamiliar with Glide, it’s the leading no-code platform for designing custom business apps, and it was the perfect solution for FreeToFeed.

With Glide, I was able to adapt to the speed and simplicity needed to turn Trill’s idea into reality. Glide would allow us to quickly build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) without compromising on quality or functionality and for a lower cost than building it from scratch.

How We Used Glide to Create a Product for FreeToFeed

  1. First, we set a bold target to create an app within a week, starting with my proven framework. I’ve used Glide to create fast application builds before, and I gave this project the same attention.

  2. After giving Trill her initial app to review, we then spent the following weeks refining the app and incorporating user feedback for improvement.

  3. Then, we launched. With just a few short weeks of collaboration, we successfully developed a fully functional app, progressing from an MVP to a supercharged, launch-ready app.

Trill was ready to present her idea to potential investors with a high-quality, low-investment application behind her.

The Final Product

The launch was a tremendous success for FreetoFeed. Not only did 1000 users sign up within the first 3-4 months, but FreetoFeed was also accepted into a prestigious startup program, which allowed Trill to secure a $150,000 investment.

Today, FreeToFeed continues to enjoy substantial growth. With investors behind them, FreetoFeed has rebuilt their app to make it more accessible through app stores and continues to secure additional funding rounds.

FreeToFeed is set to launch the world's first at-home breast milk allergen testing kit soon. You can check out their press page for more updates to see their progress.

Here is what Trill said about her 1 Week MVP experience:

"Incredibly glad we went with Darren for this project. Goals were clearly set, communication was open, and daily progress was impressive.

We truly appreciate being able to see the app being built nearly in real-time. Final product is functional, clean, and user-friendly with all the features we needed for this iteration. Highly recommend!"

Wrapping Up and What I Learned From Working with FreetoFeed

I always like to reflect on what I’ve learned from each of my clients. FreetoFeed’s journey reminds me of the power of starting small but thinking big. The MVP we built with Glide acted as a catalyst, setting the stage for FreetoFeed’s future successes.

FreetoFeed is also a massive personal success story with Glide. I was able to help Trill bring FreetoFeed to its full potential by helping her avoid the common fate of startups—failure. Too many startups fail because they run out of time and money before they can share their MVP.

Working with FreetoFeed has made me excited to save other startups from the same fate by creating MVPs that allow them to gain the attention of investors without disrupting their cash supply.
